Does TrucksOnTheMap have a freight visibility API?
Yes. TrucksOnTheMap offers a REST road freight visibility API (also called a road freight tracking API or real-time freight tracking API) covering live truck position, job and item status, push notifications, and electronic proof of delivery. The full endpoint reference is published for your developers.
Is it a REST API, and what format are responses?
It’s a REST API over HTTPS that returns JSON, using standard GET / PUT / POST verbs and typed parameters. Your team integrates against a documented endpoint reference. There’s no proprietary SDK to learn.
How does authentication work?
Each integration receives credentials scoped to your account, and drivers can be verified by SMS code on registration via /smscreatecode and /smscheckcode. Request a key and we’ll share the full authentication guide.
Do you support webhooks, or do we have to poll?
Both. Read GPS-based push messages with /pushmessages and dispatch event-driven notifications with /sendpushmessage, so updates reach your systems the moment they happen. No polling required.
How long does it take to integrate and go live?
Most integrations go live within 7 weeks. That includes API access, authentication, mapping your carriers and devices, and testing. Your team gets an API, not a year-long project.
Which endpoints are available?
The core endpoints cover live position (/settruckpos), jobs and status (/joblist, /jobstatus, /jobitemstatus), push messaging (/pushmessages, /sendpushmessage), ePOD and documents (/pictureupload, /jobpictures), onboarding (/registeruser) and reference data (/getlookups).
Can we push positions from our own telematics or driver app?
Yes. Push live GPS, speed and engine status from any device or telematics source with a single PUT to /settruckpos. The platform normalizes it into one payload across your whole carrier base.
Do you handle electronic proof of delivery (ePOD)?
Yes. Upload signed proof of delivery, photos and documents against any job with /pictureupload, and pull them back with /jobpictures. Including signer name and timestamp.
What systems does the API integrate with?
The API is REST/JSON over HTTPS and connects to TMS, ERP and WMS stacks (SAP and Oracle ready) plus GPS and telematics sources for live ETA. Webhooks support event-driven workflows.
Is the API road / truck freight only, and is our data secure?
It’s purpose-built for European road freight (gate to departure to POD) not parcel or ocean tracking. Access is scoped per account and ISO 27001 certified; your data is visible only to the partners you invite.
